How MetaMundo’s Metaverse-Ready 3D NFTs Work
The MetaPortal is the first metaverse-ready 3D NFT to be dropped on MetaMundo, and it showcases our unique approach to delivering more digital utility across the open metaverse. We’re taking steps to establish even more interoperability for 3D assets across the open metaverse, by collaborating with multiple leading metaverse projects, such as Decentraland, Somnium Space, Spatial, Metafactory, Webaverse, Nifty Island, Wilder World, ReadyPlayerMe, OpenMeta, and Mona. Doing so enables us to explore how to expand interoperability across web3’s ecosystem. With feedback from partners, we’ve defined a universal 3D metadata structure that’s designed to support all 3D files types, which can be extended and adapted to multiple asset categories: such as scenes, structures, avatars, wearables, vehicles, furniture, and more.
This metadata structure contained in MetaMundo’s NFTs, supports an array of 3D files, in different formats, including .glb, .vox, and .fbx. MetaMundo creates and optimizes all of these files on behalf of our creators — essentially minting a bundled NFT, which includes several metaverse optimized files, so that our MetaMundo-minted NFTs allow their owners to utilize them across some of the leading open metaverse platforms as well as web2 environments, such as VRChat, Mozilla Hubs, MetaVRse, and others.
In addition to a flexible metadata structure, we’re also delivering “future-proofing” of our assets through extendable metadata. What that means, essentially, is that this allows MetaMundo and its creators to add additional files types, to support more platforms and formats — as the technological landscape evolves, and new standards and formats gain adoption. MetaMundo’s 3D NFTs essentially expand their own utility, developing new possibilities to be used across the open metaverse, as newer platforms are created and opened to the world at large — quite literally. Later in 2022, we’ll explore an integration with our friends at Ceramic, to decentralize hosting of our metadata versioning, and deliver even more metadata provenance.
What is MetaMundo’s MetaPortal?
The MetaPortal — our first 3D NFT — is focused on enabling discovery of unique experiences, and fostering connections across the open metaverse. As an interactive 3D asset, it serves as a literal portal to different metaverses.
For instance, walking through the portal in Decentraland, could then transport the person utilizing the asset, to Cryptovoxels, or Somnium Space. Its qualities align with MetaMundo’s vision of fostering the creation of a digital landscape composed of an interoperable, and open metaverse, wherein everyone is free to explore and utilize NFT assets, however they choose to.
MetaPortal holders have access to unique experiences, and we’re currently partnering with multiple platforms to grant priority access to events and environments across the open metaverse. This includes sneak-previews of upcoming drops by MetaMundo, designed by some of the world’s top 3D creators.

18:00 CEST/12:00 EDT, May 9th: The MetaPortal Reveal
We’ll enable holders of the MetaPortal mintpass to redeem their OpenSea minted ERC1155 NFT, for a ERC721 3D NFT minted on MetaMundo’s platform. At first, the NFT will include the following file versions:
- GLB: Optimized for interaction in Decentraland (zip), can also be used in Somnium Space, VRChat, and many other virtual environments
- GLB: Optimized for Spatial (higher fidelity file)
- VOX: Optimized for Cryptovoxels
- BLEND: Includes all the original textures and materials
- Snapchat Lens and SparkAR: Template project files to enable you to create your own AR filters for Snapchat and Instagram — coming very soon.
How to redeem the mintpass for the MetaPortal 3D NFT, and how to download the 3D files:
- Navigate to https://metamundo.co/metaportal to swap the MetaPortal minted via OpenSea with the version minted on MetaMundo.
- Click on, “Redeem”.
- Connect wallet. Make sure to connect the same wallet holding the OpenSea MetaPortal NFT.
- Sign the swap transaction. This transaction could take up to 10 minutes to complete.
- After you connect your wallet, a MetaMundo profile will automatically be created. Under profile, the MetaPortal will be visible under “Collected”.
- Click on “Download” next to the MetaPortal, under collected 3D NFTs.
MetaPortal holders will be able to teleport into unique metaverse experiences by deploying their MetaPortal on land, with initial support for Decentraland and Cryptovoxels, or via the MetaPortal token-gated Discord channel, within the MetaMundo Discord.

6. If you have other wallet extensions, disable them for now; only have MetaMask installed.
7. Be sure that you have enough ETH to cover gas fees.
